Great article Johannes. As always the human mind is much slower to adapt then the speed of tech, especially now with the breakneck speed of AI. Even if having an AI boss is doable with todays tech, and in many ways more efficient or fair, less bias etc, there is the uneasy feeling of working for a machine. And the final question, is it actually something we (as humans) want to do?

That is THE question! Do we want this or not? Do we have agency over it? I think yes for now, will that change in the future? Most likely.

The closing question is the one that matters most - whose experience are you optimising for?

The four non-negotiables around transparency, appeal, voice, and boundaries are a practical anchor in a conversation that often stays too abstract. The loneliness research is sobering too.

Efficiency gains going to the organisation while stress goes to the worker is a pattern worth paying close attention to as this scales.
