Great call to action. Having tried to understand HR's casual almost 'hands off' approach to the AI revolution and the opportunities it offers them, I've come to the conclusion (could be way off) that it's down to the profession's DNA which is risk averse/human first.
These two things combined are not natural bedfellows with new technology but once they get going HR pros embed tech into the structure of the Business and never look back ...take payroll, ATS and LMS platforms for example. Over at the Sovereign Career Hub my guests and I encourage HR professionals to explore tech with a human first lens.
This is your best post yet, Johannes. Every HR person who wants a job in 3 years should make it part of their Core Operating Model. The technology (API, MCP) changes, but framework doesn’t.
Thanks for this Johannes! Completely agree that there is a technical skill gap in HR (especially prevalent for leaner HR teams that force generalists into tech roles given circumstance. HR, Legal, Finance, and IT are all starting to coalesce as AI/Tech redefines G&A workflows. HR is a prime position to be the group that helps shepherd this coalescence, but we will need technical acumen to do so.
