Candidates use AI to write their applications. Companies use AI to filter those applications. And somehow, both sides end up unhappy.
Greenhouse calls it the “doom loop.” Having recently gone through a hiring process myself, I can relate.
Today, Sharawn Tipton, Chief People Officer at Greenhouse, joins me on the podcast to talk about what we can do about it.
Here is some of what we get into:
Why the CV can miss people who could be great at the job
What an AI interview feels like, and what happens if a candidate opts out
How Greenhouse involved its employee resource groups in testing voice AI
Why every hiring decision still needs someone who owns it
How Sharawn and her team use AI in their own HR work
We also talk about something I suspect many of us recognise. It is now very easy to produce more work. Whether that work is useful is another question.
Sharawn’s grandmother had a saying: “Anyone can have a recipe, but not everyone can cook.”
Turns out that applies pretty well to AI, too.
Listen to the episode for the full conversation, including what Sharawn thinks HR leaders should stop doing on Monday.
